Flash hardware accelerated(Molehill)

Hey,

Finally Adobe is talking about hardware accelerated rendering in Flash, that is nice, there are good 3D frameworks for flash like Papervision3D, Sandy3D, Away3D or Alternativa but all of them lack hardware acceleration, what this means, it means that any content is rendered using your CPU which is not so good because you just payed 200$ on your graphics card and you would like to have it used all over not only for desktop games.

The "codename" is Molehill and we can expect a version, beta somewhere in first half of 2011 or at least this is what they say, it will work with DirectX 9 on Windows or OpenGL 1.3 on macs and linux, also it seems it will work also on mobile devices and will use OpenGL  ES 2.0 if no hardware acceleration is found will fall back to software rendering. I don't know about you but I'm very happy to hear this, those frameworks enumerated above will put at good use the new API and we can finally think about browser based 3D games, also AIR will benefit from this API so we'll have a great platform for desktop to develop 3D stuff.
